Nic Hubbard reacted to Team DEMP in Date/Time Logging issue
There have been very long threads on the GC forums about this. Because I'm only 3 hours different from the timezone GC uses, and I don't normally cache at night let alone the wee hours of the next day, it doesn't impact me. Even so, I followed along on the discussions.

What I can guess from all the info is that the API expects time passed to it in UTC/GMT but for some reason, the GC processing switches it to PT (Pacific Time) which means if you are logging on a different day, from the PT day, it shows as a different day it was logged. If you were in London which is currently 8 hours ahead of PT, you'd want to advance the time of the log by 8 hours so it showed as London's day vs GC's day or log after 8am London time and it would show the same day.
If I have the info accurate, I can understand Cachly's reluctance to purposely code against a really poor implementation that GC decided to go with and use that assumption to timestamp logs.

I have posted in the GC forum threads that it seems head scratching to me why GC refuses to just store logs as GMT, if they aren't already, and show date/time to be user specific based on time zone. I don't see any reason, and they have never responded in public, why they "fix" this behavior.

Nic Hubbard got a reaction from Bolling in Dot against offline list
The green dot shows the list that is currently loaded into memory. This can help speed things up if you have a huge list and you want to navigate away and then return to it.

The rendering speed on a 5s is currently pretty slow for high zoom levels. We are working to fix the performance of offline maps for older and newer devices.

Thanks everyone for fielding questions when I was gone on Sunday.
As stated, downloading offline maps is the way to go. Then you never have to worry about pre-loading tiles, you can just save your caches offline and go!

The map files are now rather small for each state so it looks like for you the combined offline maps for Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana would be under 150mb and a one time (or at least very infrequent) download.

I live on a state border and have NJ, NY, PA, CT loaded and if I travel I download the state I'll be in or cross through.  Works well enough for me.

That sounds like a painful and unreliable way to get a map for offline use!
    I think you've got it, there's 2 steps:
    1. you tell Cachly to download (& save) the OSM map.  You only need to do this step once, and thanks to being a vector map you can download an entire state/country.
    2. you can then switch to & from that offline map just like any other map.
I usually leave the offline map selected:  it's faster and saves data if I'm on cellular. I occasionally switch if I want to check satellite pics or see if another provider has better topography — if I have an Internet connection of course.

What's also really amazing is the level of customer support Nic gives to Cachly.  It's just great to see how he responds so quickly and then sometimes goes a step beyond.  One example is when a new user was confused about setting up an account.  Nic responded quickly with info about signing up at geocaching.com, but then he went a step further and made a pinned topic about it.
(I did do a cache run this weekend and didn't open my old standby app, Geosphere.  Cachly performed the job flawlessly).

Hi, in V2 when selecting a Pocket Query, Cachly downloads it to an Offline list… but there's no options associated with this.
When downloading (say) Bookmarks, Cachly asks about full/lite/pictures.
What gets saved when saving a PQ offline?

My most recent experience was GCZQ02.  I had previously logged it as a DNF, and all the other caches in that immediate map area were logged as finds.

Ah - never noticed there were entries in the list that weren't individual states! Glad I posted my screenshot and got the info!

In your case you could also download the "US Northeast" map which includes multiple states including NY and NJ.

I am caching i europe. I live in switzerland near to the borders of austria and Lichtenstein. This was just an idea. It is no problem if this is not possible.
Thank you for your perfect support!!!

    Hi Nic,
That looks so much better, although presented slightly differently it has all the necessary detail. If that were available offline it would be so much more user friendly at those levels of zoom. Can't fault the customer support, thanks again for all your hard work.

So I just used Cachly for the first time - primarily a Geosphere user.  Here are a few things that I noticed, some of which I think would help the user experience.
very easy to use and figure out.  more intuitive than geosphere, definitely a lot better than the geocaching app. online search is faster than geosphere, and very usable when navigating to a cache, I like to have the little "fan" showing the direction I'm looking even in (and especially in) the case where the map isn't rotating.  I don't like having to switch back and forth from the compass to the map to get that. In the case where the map is rotating, it is odd that panning the map even a little changes the mode (it goes back to non-rotating). zooming doesn't seem to change this. There doesn't seem to be a way to switch to "rotate the map to show my direction" and not, without also changing the zoom.  crash importing a semi-large (~1000) caches.  that was disappointing, but smaller lists seem to work.  Geosphere's handling of very large lists quickly and efficiently is a game changer for geocaching, and is mentioned by others. parking coords for a cache only show up when you navigate to the cache itself, making it a little harder to find parking "in the area" if not all of the caches have that extra parking coord. My battery seemed to drop quite quickly.  not sure if that was a coincidence or not.  Anyway, it was a good experience overall - every program has its share of nits, so this isn't a complaint.  Looking forward to testing it some more.

I was playing around with this in V 2.0. I like the default as a decoded hint since it's hidden until selected anyway. But to actually encode a hint I had to turn the option on and off.   Whenever I go back to Settings the decode hint option shows as off even when it is on.  Not a big deal but I wanted to point it out.

In the GPX data, there isn't an indication which Waypoints are cache waypoints or user waypoints.
Currently there isn't a way to edit imported waypoints, but I will for sure keep that feature in mind.

Cachly 2.0 really is great. I'm looking forward to taking it on a cache run. One feature that's neat that I never even knew I wanted.....  the ability to see another users active caches instantly plotted in a map instead of in a list view like on the geocaching.com website.

This is the BEST geocaching app out there.

Nic Hubbard reacted to Team DEMP in Update
Cachly updates like any iPhone app. On your phone and usually on your phone's first screen of icons is a blue icon labeled App Store. Click the App Store icon and once opened click Updates in the bottom right of the screen.
If you are configured to auto update, there are probably no apps showing that need to be updated as your phone does it for you behinds the scenes. If you are set to manual updates, each app will have an Update button listed and you just click Update for each app.
You might have already been updated to the latest version depending on your phone settings.
    I hope that helps.

You can also buy more time by putting the device in Low Power Mode via Battery in Settings. This turns off some things you likely won't miss and will extend your battery time. It auto exits this mode once you charge back to over 80%.
