    Just downloaded on Sunday, got the update Monday. So far so good. Still learning what I'm doing.

    Any place you can go and read about some of these features?

    Glad you are liking that feature! That particular feature took the most time of any feature in the 2.0 update.

    Nic Hubbard reacted to Michael in 'Offline' mode not using online data
    Hi
    It would be good if the 'Offline' mode would not load any online data. E.g. I noticed that when in 'Offline' mode and reading the logs of an offline cache, the images of the cachers are downloaded online. Maybe something like this would be nice ;-)
    if (offline) {
       display_standard_gray_circle_for_cacher_avatar();
    else
       download_and_display_cacher_avatar();
    }
    This would help to reduce the data consumption when I'm caching abroad :-)
    Best regards
    Michael

    A broad question but if you are asking about how to upload a picture with your log submission...
    When you are in the screen where you type the log entry, there's a + in dashed box in the bottom left. If you click that + you can either attach a picture you've already taken from your phone's photo library or you can take a new picture.

    Is that what you are looking for?

    Images don't currently download for PQ's. However this will be added in 2.0.1 which we are hoping to submit the Apple this week.
    The option will be on by default, but can be turned off in Settings for those users that do not have much space.
    We are also adding two new Offline List options to delete cache images from a list, and to re-download images for a list.

    My favourite feature is vector maps — have downloaded the entirety of New Zealand for the same size as a suburb before :]
    It looks great, thanks for the hard work and dialogue Nic.

    Correct. You can even test this by being in Cachly, then locking your phone. When you press the power button again (still on lock screen) you can wait until the location icon in the status bar turns off. This means GPS is no longer being used.
    Yes, GPS switches back on if you unlock your phone and are back in Cachly.
    Another tip to save battery life is to turn your phone to Airplane Mode. Since iOS 8 you have been able to use GPS while in Airplane Mode. This will also really save on battery.
    I will still add the GPS on/off idea to our feature list. I think it is a valid request that we will explore. Thanks!

    Not at this time. We are a very small development team, so we are focusing on iOS at the moment.
    If that changes we will be sure to announce it.

    Wonderful! Can you send me an email through the support option in Cachly? Then we can talk more details. Thanks!

    Yes, Geosphere has access to accessing your location even when you have left the app, so it could be using GPS and battery while you are not actively in the app.
    Cachly doesn't do this, and only uses GPS while the app is active.

    One thing you can do to give you a hint as to which apps are using GPS is to go to your iOS Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. You will see the location icon next to apps that have recently used your location.
    Cachly 2.0 will be out on December 5th, so make sure to update!

    I'd heard on the Geosphere Forums that your customer support was second to none and now I know the rumours are true!!
    I hadn't properly connected the Location icon with the GPS as I was under the impression that Location came from multiple sources (incl internet routers, wifi & GPS). If it's that clearcut, then you've just locked me onto another important tool for managing battery performance in the field.
    Thanks also for the Airplane Mode tip - hadn't hooked into that one either!!
    Think I'll go back to the Geosphere Forum now and see if I can drum up some more customers for you - you deserve them

    Thanks guys.  Apparently controlled by the obscure Location-Based Alerts setting in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services.

    That is your iPhone suggesting an application to use based on multiple factors such as location, time of day and frequently used application. It's an iPhone feature and nothing specific to Cachly. You can disable the iPhone from suggesting an application on the lock screen if it annoys you - Google iPhone lock screen suggested app

    Yes, as Team DEMP said, in 2.0 this will be possible to view other user's hides. Unfortunately we are not able to show Archived Hides, as the API from Groundspeak does not include those.

    Yes, great! It works now. I could throw away the wrong one and put in the good one. I saw also that I must have used - by mistake - the current location button, when I was looking, how to do it.
    You helped me very good, thanks a lot!!!

    I had talked to one of the geocaching.com developers about something very similar (Field Notes) and from what he said, it made it sound like it works now. And that submitting from Cachly we set the UTC time, and it will show the time in your geocaching.com account based on your time zone settings in your user account there.

    It happened to me the same problem this weekend. I tried to import a GPX with +/- 1500 caches of 70 Mbyte, and the app closed when it started importing.

    Looking forward for v. 2.0!!
