barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Support URL scheme
Cachly does have basic URL scheme support:
cachly:// Opens the app
cachly://?gccode=<code> to open a specific cache
Adding more is for sure on our radar.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Pins or similar for all pending clues
I have considered using iCloud for features like this. They would be synced across all devices that use your iCloud account (if you login to iCloud).
However, this would likely be a 2.2 or 3.0 feature.

barefootguru reacted to bloodycool in Cachly 2.1 and map clustering input needed
I am also not at all a fan of clustering, but if you have thousands of caches in a list, I think that is completely reasonable. If all else, you can created another smaller list. I keep a list of around 1,000 of the caches nearest to my home, but I can't even imagine a 10k or 20k cache list.
I think what you have proposed is very reasonable, though I wouldn't want offline lists to load up in list mode unless they were over 1000 caches (or maybe the user can set the default behavior). As noted above, I keep an offline list of the nearest 1,000 caches and that is how I do most of my local caching. It would be annoying to have an extra step of switching from list to map view every time I use my offline list, which is 90% of the time.
As always, fantastic job on the app and the updates. I introduced it to a couple more people at a recent geocaching event, and bought it for another friend for their birthday.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in DNF color in overview screen
Posting this for more discussion. Thoughts?
P.S., this is starting to grow on me...

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in DNF color in overview screen
I like it Clear what each entry is, and consistent with icons on map.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in DNF causes pin to move on map
Have this one on our bug list too. Will fix.

I like the idea of changing the DNF to a blue dot… I realise Cachly is using traffic-light colours, but I can never remember what shade of red represents what log.

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Viewing pocket queries
I too would appreciate a download icon instead of an arrow… that screens looks similar enough to Offline Lists that I sometimes mistakenly tap a query. Then have to wait and delete the duplicate download.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Log preview doesn't scroll if too long
Your right, looks like in Preview mode it isn't scrolling. Will get this fixed.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Map of user hides defaults to ocean
Agree. I will get this fixed in our upcoming version.

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Map of user hides defaults to ocean
Ah, well spotted. I have that option turned off because I can't handle the main map being zoomed and moved out of my control.
But I'd expect looking at a COs subset of caches — not on the main map — would zoom and scroll automatically regardless… in the same way as first going into an offline list. Can't think of a reason not to?

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in My hides not shown on live map
Never mind, I found it… My Hides were excluded under Search Options — assumed those options only affected searching, not the live map in general.

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in How to download the offline maps?
@Starsqual the reason for this change — and simplification — is that Cachly now downloads vector-based maps rather than 'tiles'. This means an entire state or country is the same size map download as a single caching area previously. So if your caching is in a single state/country you download once and forget about it.

barefootguru got a reaction from ElectroQTed in Open cache in Safari by default
Hi, currently when looking at a cache and selecting ‘View on geocaching.com’, the page appears in a portal inside Cachly and it's another step to open in Safari.
The reason for wanting to view on the GS site, is to get the full power of both the site and Safari.
Maybe most people, or Nic, appreciate the current behaviour; but on the chance they're all silently suffering like me, thought I'd post this

barefootguru reacted to Ketil in Open cache from pending logs
Hi,
Thanks for creating the best geocaching app out there.
I often save finds while in the field, and then compose and submit the logs when I get home.
What would really be a good feature for this workflow, is the ability to return to the cache listing from the pending log view.
Today, I have to search for the cache ID to find it, which is a bit cumbersome.
I typically do this to read through the description to get input on my log, and for mysteries I like to have a look at my cache notes to see when I solved it, etc.
Kind regards,
Ketil

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in iPad support
This is a great feature request, and something I have wanted to add for a while.
-
barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in iPad support
Running as a native iPad app — rather than 2× mode — has been in a few threads, but creating this separate feature request so it can be voted on.
Would be great if Cachly could take advantage of the large screen, including both rotations.
(And eventually split screen)

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Caches confused after a find
Saving offline didn't trigger the bug today. The other actions I regularly do are to insert the Owner Name keyword, and after submitting going back to other logs before completely backing out of the cache. I regularly switch between live caches and an offline list. Still working on finding a consistent trigger

Possibly related to saving the log entry offline.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in No radius for letterboxes
I will make sure to get this added in our next version.
-
barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in No radius for letterboxes
Cachly doesn't display the radius around letterbox caches. I can understand not displaying the radius around the original coords of mysteries, etc., but aren't letterboxes always at the given location and subject to proximity rules?

Looks good thanks Nic. Yes, it started as half cable half funicular, and is now full funicular but retained the name

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Open cache in Safari by default
Done! I fixed this in a few other places as well.
Once place I didn't change it is where we use Google Translate. In this case I think it works well to not have to open Safari.

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Remember state when quitting
Normally it's iOS doing it, that was a test case. Good to hear it's on the list
