Since you're asking for input I'll give you mine. Besides not having most of the features of the Classic app, my number one complaint about the new official Groundspeak app is the clustering of caches. There's no real way to tell at a glance if an area you're looking at is a Geoart series, a power trail of traditionals, several P&G's or a little of each. If people really want to load 10,000 caches into a list in the app (I see no reason to do that but I guess some might) and want to see clusters I suppose that option would be okay for them. But for me I don't ever want to see a cluster on my map so it would be great to have an option to disable that feature.

This for sure is something I will take into account. My plan is to not even show clustering after a certain zoom level. Stay tuned for more details and testing.

Posting this for more discussion. Thoughts?

Assuming the Russians do not influence this vote, I cast mine as follows:
I vote for the traditional/original colour scheme -  Yellow smile, Blue frown, etc.

Nic Hubbard reacted to Bunkshyde in Mark Pocket Queries as Downloaded
After a Pocket Query is downloaded on the "Pocket Queries" screen, there is no indication left behind that the download has completed and when it was last done. I think it would be a nice addition to Cachly if the individual Queries could be marked in some way (a background or typeface colour change maybe) to indicate that they have already been downloaded. Not sure if it's possible to extend this by having the original colour return if the Pocket Query is refreshed at geocaching.com (which would indicate it needs re-downloading into Cachly). The addition of the date of download (space permitting) would also be a great feature.

I've had this a lot too ususally happens when phone is in anything less than a 3G area. I'd suggest that if the user is in the offline map or using offline map and not on wifi then it defaults to saving offline. Typically if a user knows they are in a poor signal area they will switch to offline maps and/or offline tab. Cachly could take that as a cue to use offline mode for saving waypoints (and cache notes).

I agree with the the approach you've outlined. In general I think any feature like like this should:
    1. Only go into effect as a last resort, and
    2. Have a switch so an informed user can choose to turn it off, and suffer the consequences (fewer caches showing, etc.) with a warning that consequences are happening.

Welcome to Cachly! Do you just mean a feature that zooms the map in the closer you get to the cache? If so, this isn't yet possible in Cachly, but we do have it on our feature list!

Coordinates line is especially hard to read with grey text on a grey background. In general, higher contrast is better for an app being used outdoors in sunlight.

    Re opening in app
My behavior opens in Safari with an option to open in Geocaching app. I vaguely recall that if it opens in their app you can tap geocaching.com in the upper right to open in web page. I think the choice is sticky so you may be able to open directly to Safari from emails. This can be handy because if you then tap the GPX file button, you will be offered to open in an app that handles GPX files -- likely to be Cachly for you. Then you can import the single cache to an offline list. Having a list named NewCaches would let you easily grab new publications for later finding.

I want to +1 this feature request.  I live in a cold-weather area, and often have to wear gloves.  I'm also required by my employer to have my iPhone locked, so I have to remove my glove often to use the TouchID sensor.  When I'm close to GZ, I'm constantly having to glove-on / glove-off.  Having the option to leave the phone in my pocket while searching, and just glance at my watch would be a huge advantage.  It's the only reason I ever used the official app (and it's true, it didn't work terribly well) - I have no doubt that you could make actually useful.

I use the Cache Note on the cache page screen that shows Description, Hint, etc. The cache note two-way syncs to Geocaching.com with the Personal notes.

Just be careful if you go to edit the notes on a web page. For some reason, the web page limits the total number of characters and truncates any excess when saving. Apps can store much longer notes without any trouble via the API. An extra long note can be viewed on the web but don't try to edit it there or you will lose data.

Given that a lot of users also use GSAK, it should be noted that GSAK also shows DNFs as a red dot in the "last 4 logs" view, so the consistency there could be appreciated by many.
But I do agree that the two "red" shades is hard to distinguish between at a quick glance (and for those of us with bad eyesight).

I like the idea of changing the DNF to a blue dot… I realise Cachly is using traffic-light colours, but I can never remember what shade of red represents what log.

Thanks. That works fine. I'll make s separate feature request one of these days for standalone user defined waypoints but not now. Low priority for me.
