barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Filter for draft finds
Cachly marks found caches with a tick when you submit a draft find. Would be handy if there was a filter to show just these caches — then after submitting the logs I could see and refresh those caches on both devices.

barefootguru got a reaction from koc256 in Map slowly wanders all over the place when location jumps
If I open up Cachly again after moving location, say 50 km, then hit the current location arrow, Cachly will sometimes do a slow wander around the map until finally arriving at the current location — it can take 5+ seconds. I think this is new in the last few updates. Pretty sure the phone has got my new location before then, so would rather Cachly jumped straight to my current location :]
Offline maps, latest Cachly and iOS.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Syncing Drafts?
Thanks. I am still considering this for a future version.

barefootguru got a reaction from Nic Hubbard in Syncing Drafts?
I’d also find it handy to be able to edit Drafts in Cachly. When online I use them over Pending logs, as they're immediately stored in the cloud and accessible from any device.
Which works well… until I think of something else to add to the draft

barefootguru reacted to BAMBI11 in PQ Download to a List
Hi,
I would appreciate to add a function „delete list before download“ to the option menu of PQ download.
Right now I have to navigate to the offline list to delete all Caches in the List before downloading the PQ.
The background is, that if I do not delete the list first, all the „old“ and „found“ Caches are still in the list. I use the offline list to show me all not found Caches...
Thanks
Daniel

Thank you for these great suggestions!

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Images grayed out despite using downloaded PQ with full data & Downloaded Images
This is never a good idea as you will loose all data.
I do have a fix for the initial bug. I will be submitting it to Apple today for approval.
What specific map are you loading?

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Don't understand how the pointer works
No, as the pointer is specifically a heading indicator, which GPS course cannot do. Think about if you are standing close to a geocache, rotating your body looking for the cache, the compass will provide correction direction for the pointer in relation the tip of your phone, so when looking at the map you know exactly which way you are facing. GPS course cannot do this unless the user walks for a distance.
-
barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Don't understand how the pointer works
This is not something that I would use the GPS "course" data for. That is only for when you are moving that it will show the correct direction of movement. The heading indicator is not this.
It requires the compass because you can stand stationary in one location and rotate and the course indicator will change using the compass to point you in the direction of the cache based on the top of your device. This is not something that GPS course direction can do, as it doesn't update when a user rotates a compass.
I think we should just move on from this topic, unless you have another specific question, as I feel this is getting a bit heated. Thanks.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Don't understand how the pointer works
There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of Geocachers using the various geocaching apps on mobile devices, as well as over 5 years worth of happy Cachly customers. We haven't ever had this issue reported, so that is why I was thinking it could be an issue with the device itself.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Sync current location between different maps/lists
Thanks for the suggestion!

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Copy Options
This can be done on the Additional Information screen. If you tap on a row of information it will save to the clipboard. Then, if you long press on another row, it will append that text to the previously copied text.
I realize this could be useful, but I also think that users would be annoyed if it showed the share sheet every time they were only wanting to copy the text.

I like how the images are available in Drive, that’s handy!

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in More details on 6.1 features
Here is a bit more information about 6.1 as we haven't had a chance to update the wiki: https://medium.com/@cachly/cachly-6-1-features-and-release-37be309d9f68
Proximity alert is a new button that shows up on the navigate to cache screen as well as on offline lists. You can tap it to see all the options and turn it on, or you can long press the button to quickly turn it on.
These are saved in iCloud drive and will be synced to your other devices and are accessible on those devices and on your computer by viewing them in iCloud Drive and viewing the Cachly folder. They are not saved on geocaching.com.
Let me know if you have any additional questions!

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Have a legend for the map
You can see the map legend on our Help website: https://www.cach.ly/help/index.php/Premium_Offline_Map_Legend This is a work in progress and will continue to receive updates.

barefootguru reacted to stealthcat in Alert when approching a cache
A nice feature would be an alert when getting in a specified range of an cache. This might be very usefull when hiking a cache trail without having to watch the display all the time.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Many app restarts if the app is in background
This will be fixed in Cachly 6.0 when we introduce State Restoration. This will bring you right back to where you left off in Cachly, even if iOS kills it in the background.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Default name for exported list
Excellent idea about defaulting the export title to the list name. Will get this added.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Becoming a patron
You can become a patron on the Cachly Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/cachly There are various levels. I have tried to advertise it in various places but hard to get the word out to all users without spamming them, which I don't want to do.
I need to check to see if Apple allows an app to open Patreon.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Filter on owner name is case sensitive?
In this specific case you are using the MATCHES operator which is a regex style match, so this would be cast sensitive. You would need to do a specific regex case insensitive match like
(?i)skindo in order to make this work.
You can use a different operator like Begins with or Contains to ignore case.

barefootguru reacted to Nic Hubbard in Request failed
There will be additional fixes for this coming in our 5.2 version. These were being caused by the new geocaching.com API changes.

barefootguru got a reaction from NLBokkie in Should offline lists and pending logs be user specific?
If Cachly had a shared database then if you logged in as a different user you'd see somebody else's data, which seems wrong.
I'm guessing Groundspeak won't let you access an internal ID which doesn't change?
So I think the existing behaviour is correct.
If there's no data when starting the app, you could display a dialog saying data needs to be downloaded, including if you've renamed your username?
