@rragan I run the special My Finds PQ and import that into an offline list — contains every cache I’ve found with log.

Then I update all caches with full cache data to have my notes available offline too.

I do a lot of walking and use the map scale heavily.  I miss having it constantly onscreen in the latest version of Cachly; and find it clunky to have to pause a zoom to see it for any period of time.

Cachly has a handy feature, that when you select a cache pin on the map, and view the details (e.g. log), then tap the back arrow, you’re returned to the map screen with the cache still selected — it still has the summary details ‘balloon’.

But if one of your actions when viewing the cache is to edit the personal cache note, when you return to the map no cache is selected — so you can’t tell what cache you were looking at.

A minor bug, possibly only for us folk so far ahead of UTC (currently +13):

1. today’s the 27th
2. a find log submitted through Cachly, with the default date of 27th
3. view the cache summary page from the Live screen, and the logs will say ‘Tomorrow’
4. go into the logs, and the last find shows today’s date (27th)

I usually work with offline maps, which means I can only see a single country.

If I go into the Trackables screen and select View Travels, most of the map is blank, and you have to switch back to Live/Offline screen to change it.

Would be handy if View Travels map had the same map selection icon in the bottom right as the Live/Offline screens.

Not using Cachly to navigate seems a pretty niche use of it.  You could turn off Cachly’s GPS access in iOS’s privacy settings.

I have 7 lists, but that jumps to around 15 when I'm doing PQ imports… which I then merge.

It's behaving for me now too.  I wonder if it was triggered by importing PQs and a My Finds, and restarting Cachly has fixed it?

Hi, when copying or merging an offline list, the list of possible offline list destinations to copy/merge the selected list into, is in a different sort order from the main Offline lists screen.  Would be easier to follow if they were the same

iOS does have a built in magnifying glass for the screen, which works in every app including Cachly.

The other issue I've struck recently is Cachly's version of the note can get of sync with the website… presumably because it's saved in Cachly's database.  If I don't realise there's 2 different versions, then any edits to Cachly's version can overwrite changes on the website.

Does Groundspeak really reset the counters at random points in time?  I would have expected the reset to be midnight Pacific Time… which would make it easy to know when you can download more.

I've struck this, I don't think it's been every time.  It's like the zoom levels which have already seen the original coordinates leave the cache there but invisible, while zoom levels which haven't seen the cache will display it at the updated coords.

Is it worth replacing with:

1. an edit button, or
2. automatically switching from 'browse' to 'edit' when you tap — like in Notes, or
3. an undo/revert button

Worried the note could be changed accidentally with no way to undo it.

The first 2 suggestions would also make viewing longer notes easier.

Hi, I like to keep areas around home in offline lists and up to date, so they're always available for unplanned caching where there's no cell coverage.  I currently have 6 PQs with around 800 caches each, covering different geographic areas (some overlap).  Every week I delete the 6 old offline lists and download the new PQs.

Wondering if a better workflow would be a one of combining of the offline lists into a single list, then weekly using Cachly's Update Caches function on all 5,000 caches.  Plus importing a single PQ into that list to pick up any new caches placed.

Thinking this would save quite a bit of time, plus allow me to view all the offline caches at once.

I guess I'd have to keep the original PQs around in case I needed to start again in Cachly.

Interested in thoughts.

Hi, when looking at an offline list, Cachly normally centres the maps on the caches.

But if the caches are spread around the world — so they can't all be shown at once — the default starting position on the map seems random.  Would be good if the map could start at the current location, or maybe where the most caches are.

e.g. An imported My Finds is centered on the other side of the world from me, not my current location or where the most finds are.

Thanks guys.  @Nic I'm always careful with the cloud, and GS slightly more than the others   So I'm wanting a way to backup the Personal Cache Notes I've created — whether they were created within Cachly or on the site.

I do download PQs from within Cachly, so thanks for confirming that will backup my notes for unfound caches, as they're covered in my existing PQs.

Sounds like I can't use the builtin My Finds PQ GPX download to backup notes for caches I've found though… I'll have to write my own PQs?

Hi, I've been reluctant to use the personal cache notes on geocaching.com because there doesn't seem to be a way to back them up… but it looks like I can utilise Cachly for that 

If I examine a PQ or My Finds by hand, the cache note doesn't appear to be present in the file.

But when I import a PQ or My Finds into Cachly, the note appears to be saved in the offline database.

When importing, is Cachly making an extra query to geocaching.com to pick up the cache note?
