Is it possible to open app in " non Live map mode" using a downloaded vector map?

This isn't currently possible to open Cachly and force it to go to an Offline List. Cachly is an "online first" app with powerful offline features. However, I think it would be a good idea to add an option to allow completely offline loading of Cachly. I will add this to our list.

    Thanks!

Perfect. All we need now is a dropbox option on the menu rather than finding it through the "Other" menu option.

I don't see it being added as a main tab anytime soon. However in the future we plan to allow customization of tabs.

I just tried to repeat the issue and was not able too. I then deleted the offline PQ and repeated the steps and reproduced the issue.  Also, the distance sort was all out of order.

Still struggling to reproduce this. I will keep trying this week.

I just tried this and it appears that is what is happening. Seems if you just stay where you are, the list of caches by distance remains stable based on whether you've selected ascending/descending.

I thought this might be the issue. I have so far been hesitant to fix this without more testing and here is why:

Say you have an offline list with 2000 caches. GPS returns a new location update every second or so. This would be the time to then update all the caches with the new location. However, you could imagine how this could start to turn into an issue if every second we tried to loop through 2000 caches and update their distance. Memory and CPU usage would be high.

To solve this issue I am going to update all caches at a longer interval, say 30 seconds. This should fix the bug while also not overwhelming iOS with trying to update a large amount of caches each second.

Will work on fixing this bug. Thanks everyone for the testing and input.

Just noticed our cable car tracks are missing (New Zealand):  OSM shows them but not Cachly.  This is halfway between 2 stations:  S41 17.115 E174 46.109

Is this what you were hoping to see?

That rail type is called funicular: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:railway=funicular?uselang=en-US

It looks like we were missing the style definitions for that type of railway, but I have added them now so that those types of railways show. Thanks for alerting me about this!

Might be worth making play areas more green than aqua, as blue implies water — see screenshot with lake on left and play area on right.

Thanks, that would be easy to change.

I'd like to see contour lines, but realise that could make the map too busy.

This is something that I have looked into but I am worried about the extra file size that it will add to the map downloads. It is still on our list.

I did of course find the functionality after a while, but after seeing this post it reminded me of my struggle too.

We will always continue working to make things better and more usable. So I will make a note of this and see what we can come up with. :)

I just downloaded a PQ and the images started downloading automatically. That's a nice option. However, even when it's turned on it would be nice to have the option to cancel the image download mid-download.  That's my opinion anyway.

We do have a cancel option on our list of features to add. In the meantime will the option to turn those image downloads off work for you? There is a Settings option for that.

just updated to 2.01 and have seen the map changes. Thank you very much for sorting this, it'll make a massive difference to using the app offline whilst out and about.

In my opinion the app was second to none before version 2, now it's streets ahead of the competition, fantastic job.

    Thanks for the compliments.:)

Let me know if you notice any more map objects that are not showing at certain zoom levels or things you might have input on changing.

One improvement might be not listing the Offline list you started with since clicking it would only merge a list with itself (also see (2) below).

This is a good idea. Will fix this.

    2) Another small issue, but this actually happened to me - I had one list left and noticed a bunch of duplicates. I took a chance and decided to merge that list with itself, thinking that might somehow eliminate all of the duplicates. The result was that the app worked for a little while and then ended up deleting the only offline list, leaving me with no offline list at all. Clearly my mistake but it was a bit of an unintended result. Perhaps some warning that you're about to delete the only offline list you have should be displayed?

I think removing the option to merge a list with itself is the clear choice here. I think that should solve the issue you had?

    3) I had anticipated that Merging two offline lists would result in a single offline list which contains a combination of the caches in the two lists, with no duplicates. Rules would need to be established on the attributes of the single cache that replaces all the duplicates. As it stands, it seems the Copy Caches function does the same thing as the Merge Lists function except the Copy Caches function doesn't delete the resulting empty list, but you still end up with duplicates in the resulting combined list. I think I understand the reason for the different Merge vs. Copy functions (i.e. the preservation of the resulting empty list). In my opinion, the elimination of duplicates, using some logical rules would be very valuable.

In 2.0.1 copying and merging DOES remove duplicates. We do a check between the two lists and if we find a duplicate, we only keep the newest one. Matching is done on the unique GC code.

    4) I also saw a post or two that referred to the ability to update cache data on a subset of caches in an offline list. I haven't been able to figure out how to do that because I can't seem to find the search functionality that would result in a subset of the offline list.

Yes, this is possible by viewing the offline list, then tapping the ... button and choosing the Update Caches option.

It took me a while to find the Options feature the other day. I knew offline databases could be merged so I kept looking.   It's not totally intuitive right now.

One option might be to swap the positions of the Options and Delete boxes.

Simplicity and intuitiveness sometimes go hand and hand, and are sometimes at odds. We have tried to keep both in mind on this screen. There are a lot of controls that a user can invoke, but I think that the screen still works.

We are using the standard iOS swipe to reveal feature, which is used throughout iOS. The iOS Mail app does this exact thing, and this is what Cachly's Offline List swipe feature is modeled after:

Hope this helps explain a bit of our thinking when planning the UI and user experience. :)
