Crash When Attempting to Import GPX from Dropbox
Moun10Bike posted a topic in SupportFor about a week now, Cachly has been crashing for me when I try to navigate into my Dropbox folder hierarchy during GPX import. The Dropbox app had an update about a week ago and I'm wondering if that could be to blame. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Cachly and Dropbox on my iPhone, but that hasn't fixed my issue. My repro steps are: In Cachly, tap on the "More" option in the lower right corner Tap "Import GPX" Tap "Import from Dropbox" When the Dropbox app opens and displays a list of folders, tap on any one Result: Cachly crashes to the home screen. I'm able to work around this by starting from the Dropbox app, navigating to the file I want to import, selecting "Save to Device," and then selecting "Open in...Cachly." Any ideas what my issue might be?
Loading a GPX file from other than Dropbox
Sailaboat posted a topic in General QuestionsMy caching friend doesn't have access to my Dropbox. Is there a way to simply send (e.g. e-mail) him a GPX file which he can then load into a list on his phone? The list would be blank until the file was imported to the list.
Lab Cache GPX not processing
SlumberBear posted a topic in SupportI recently downloaded the GPX file for the "Berkshire Mountains Geo-Faerie Adventure" here and when I tried to import it through email it was stuck processing for upwards of 10 minutes. Any tips? Will lab cache GPX files not work? - iPhone 6 / iOS 10.3.2 - Cachly Version 3.0.2 (4) - Premium user Thanks, SlumberBear
Export list to GPX as non-zip file
NLBokkie posted a question in Feature RequestsHi Nic, Team, I noticed when I export a list to GPX and mail it to myself or others, the GPX-file is zipped. Because it is zipped, a receiver of the GPX-file cannot import it directly into Cachly. Is there a reason why the file is zipped (beyond the obvious answer to make the file smaller)? Or is there a work around to import a zipped GPX-file directly into Cachly? If not, can you add a setting or option to Cachly to decide as the sender to have the file sent as plain GPX or Zipped-GPX? Thank you!

Display GPX Points on Cachly?
elrojo14 posted a question in Feature RequestsSo I am sitting in my hotel room getting ready to head to the APE Mega and I am thinking it sure would be nice to be able to upload that .gpx to either a map or even add them as waypoints inside the APE event on Cachly. This would be a great feature to add in the future. https://labs.geocaching.com/Adventures/Details/ecb2364d-ae8a-48bf-b502-adae411b5ddb https://labs.geocaching.com/Adventures/DetailsAsGpx/ecb2364d-ae8a-48bf-b502-adae411b5ddb
Export GPX has control characters
rustywa posted a topic in SupportI'm exporting about 2000 caches from a region in the Netherlands and noticed that my Garmin GPS62s only picks up a fraction of the caches. I tried to import the exported GPX in geosphere where I encounter an error. The error message says there are control characters in the description. The cache that had control characters (GC4C3D8) indeed had a ^X and a ^Y in the description. Exporting the GPX file from the geocaching.com website didn't produce the ^X and ^Y characters. After I removed the control characters from that cache, the ones in the same series and another cache (that had ^B among other characters), all 2000 caches loaded fine in my Garmin and in Geosphere. Could the export option automatically filter out possibly offending characters?
Problems Exporting Offline List and Importing to GSAK and GPSr
Wet Coast Explorers posted a topic in SupportI'm running into a couple of issues when exporting an offline list from Cachly v3.0.2 (4) and importing into GSAK and directly onto my GPSr. First off, I get this GSAK warning dialog (see attached image) that says the GPX file is in an old format and does not contain any attributes. Second, I get a ton of errors saying (see attached image): The GPX file exported from Cachly appears to contain attributes, but also contains a bunch of empty <wpt> tags, one for every cache. For example: <wpt lat="48.824467" lon="-123.279915"> <time>2005-04-08T17:00:00-07:00</time> <name>GCNDQ2</name> <desc>Baby Back Ribs by land-air-sea, Traditional Cache (1.5/1.0)</desc> <url>http://coord.info/GCNDQ2</url> <urlname>Baby Back Ribs</urlname> <sym>Geocache</sym> <type>Geocache|Traditional Cache</type> <gsak:wptExtension xmlns:gsak="http://www.gsak.net/xmlv1/5"> <gsak:Code>GCNDQ2</gsak:Code> <gsak:IsPremium>false</gsak:IsPremium> <gsak:FavPoints>2</gsak:FavPoints> <gsak:UserFlag>false</gsak:UserFlag> </gsak:wptExtension> <groundspeak:cache xmlns:groundspeak="http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0" id="227699" available="True" archived="False"> <groundspeak:name>Baby Back Ribs</groundspeak:name> <groundspeak:placed_by>land-air-sea</groundspeak:placed_by> <groundspeak:owner id="52101">land-air-sea</groundspeak:owner> <groundspeak:type>Traditional Cache</groundspeak:type> <groundspeak:container>Small</groundspeak:container> <groundspeak:attributes> <groundspeak:attribute id="1" inc="1">Dogs</groundspeak:attribute> <groundspeak:attribute id="7" inc="1">Takes less than an hour</groundspeak:attribute> <groundspeak:attribute id="6" inc="1">Recommended for kids</groundspeak:attribute> <groundspeak:attribute id="13" inc="1">Available at all times</groundspeak:attribute> <groundspeak:attribute id="15" inc="1">Available during winter</groundspeak:attribute> <groundspeak:attribute id="32" inc="1">Bicycles</groundspeak:attribute> </groundspeak:attributes> <groundspeak:difficulty>1.5</groundspeak:difficulty> <groundspeak:terrain>1.0</groundspeak:terrain> <groundspeak:country>Canada</groundspeak:country> <groundspeak:state>British Columbia</groundspeak:state> <groundspeak:short_description html="False">Nice log strewn beach to explore at lower tides.</groundspeak:short_description> <groundspeak:long_description html="False">This is a small bay to explore via boat or on foot. This occasionally makes is difficult to actually select a geocache from the map view on my Oregon 450, as the waypoint is often selected first. After multiple attempts, I can usually get the cache selected. Not a show stopper, but annoying none the less.
Loading a GPX file distributed at an event
Sailaboat posted a topic in General QuestionsHi there, I will be attending an event tomorrow. 20 new caches, unpublished, which will be distributed via a GPX file. What's the easiest/fastest way to get the caches loaded into Cachly? Have them e-mail me, save to Dropbox, and then import? Or is there a more "direct" route? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Sailaboat
