I was playing around with this in V 2.0. I like the default as a decoded hint since it's hidden until selected anyway. But to actually encode a hint I had to turn the option on and off.   Whenever I go back to Settings the decode hint option shows as off even when it is on.  Not a big deal but I wanted to point it out.

Well shoot, you found a bug. Somehow when we were building in a new Settings option that switch got its association messed up. Thanks!

It shows up under the cache waypoint tab and I was expecting it under the user tab.  At first I didn't recognize it since it has no name, and I don't see an option to name the waypoint (like I can do when creating a waypoint within Cachly).  Any suggestions?

In the GPX data, there isn't an indication which Waypoints are cache waypoints or user waypoints. :(

Currently there isn't a way to edit imported waypoints, but I will for sure keep that feature in mind.

However I can't find the waypoints on the geocaching website. Do you know where to find this?

One Waypoint that does show on geocaching.com is if you created a Waypoint with Corrected Coordinates. This will then show on geocaching.com that the caches coordinates have been corrected.

How does Cachly manage the waypoints? Are the waypoints just saved in the App? Are the waypoints saved in the cloud? What happen with the waypoints I reinstall the App?

Waypoints are synced/saved to the geocaching.com API. So they will always be available no matter what device you are using or if you delete and reinstall Cachly. :)

    1. Starting the navigation in cachly, the app shows just the actual cache on the map. It would be very helpful if Cachly would show the other caches around, too. When doing a multi-cache sometimes there are some other caches (traditionals or solves mysteries) on the way you can log in the meantime. So you don`t miss a cache and don't have to come back.

Added this to our feature list. :)

    2. It would be very helpful to have an additional waypoint button on the map, because at the moment you always have to switch back in the cache view and to waypoints and after you created the waypoint you have to navigate back to the map. That is too complicated and is frustrating.

This is currently possible. Just long press on the map and it will drop a pin. Then tap the pin callout and choose "Create as Waypoint". You can also drag the pin to move it, or fine tune the coords in the create dialog.

    3. For multi-caches it is helpul to have an projection feature. In many cases you have to go for xxx meters in xxx degrees.

This is something we have had on our feature list for a while and hope to get it added very soon.

    4. There should be an option of "automatic log" of trackables in the preferences menu. I want to log all my trackables as "visit" in each cache. At the moment I have to do this manually.

Others have suggested this as well. So an automatic "dip" list?

I look forward to having an update that will allow lots of caches to be installed.  I travel quite frequently here in Australia, mainly within South Australia (about 14,000 active caches) and Victoria (about 16,000 active caches) and have become quite used to having them all available on my phone wherever I happen to be.

I hope to start work on this version after the Christmas holiday.

If I then select the sort button on the top right and change it to Ascending Distance, the caches in the list are not sorted by by what is displayed as their distance, and I have some 18km mixed in between some 20km, and the caches that are right next to me are many pages of scrolling down the list (example screenshot attached).

This is a bug that was reported by a few other users also. It has been fixed in our internal 2.0.1 version which I hope to submit to Apple this week.

  7. Welcome to Cachly! :)

First off, I just want to say that Cachly is not meant to be a Geosphere clone. Things are different, and there might be a learning curve to how things are done.

However, your points are very valid, see below:

With GeoSphere, I was able to import my whole GSAK database (40,000+ caches) in to the app, and while it wouldn't show them all at once (limit was 8000), I was able to use filters on the offline lists to display subsets of caches (ie, just Unknowns, just those with Corrected Coordinates, just T5 caches, only caches within X distance, etc).  I can't seem to see any way of:

    - having this many caches in Cachly without it crashing when accessing a large list

Cachly wasn't built to handle 40,000+ caches in a list as it will use too much memory when importing. However, we are planning to update the database schema to handle larger numbers of caches like this. This likely will be coming in 2.1.

    - filtering a list to show a certain subset of caches
    - hiding my Found caches if they're present in my list

We are working to add a new Filters section of Offline Lists. This will allow you to do what you are wanting. Planning this feature also for 2.1.

    - the "List" of offline caches doesn't seem to reflect in any way my current distance from the caches

Do you mean that the distance isn't getting updated? Or did you mean something else?

Happy to answer any more questions!

I'm more than willing to test.

If you are not already on our beta testing list (I don't always know everyone's names, just emails) then please contact support through Cachly so that we can set you up. Thanks!

After further investigation this problem is very repeatable. It also occurs when sorting Live cache data by distance, not just offline cache data.

This has been fixed in the 2.0.1 beta.  Would you want to test it?

iPhone 5s (Cachly seems to think it's iPhone6,1)

iPhone6,1 is correct. That is how Apple internally labels the iPhone 5s. It doesn't mean it thinks you have an iPhone 6. :)

It imported relatively quickly.  However, processing the images took well over 10 minutes.

The good news, even though it took quite some time, it didn't crash.

Are the images, imported "net new" with each GPX file processed, or is there a delta mechanism, to import only new images?

    Cheers,

    Mark

Let me know if you want the GPX file, zipped & sent to support.

Images are imported new each time you import a GPX file. There is no mechanism to check for duplicates since you are creating a new offline list each time you import.

Yes, please send the GPX to support. Thanks.

I had a similar issue with the new V2 version.  Importing a 43Mb GPX file from Dropbox (7606 caches) of all the caches within 100Km of my home location.

I can import the GPX fine if I don't try to get the images, but with the "Save Images" selected, it starts the import, it gets to image 440ish of around 3400 and the app completely crashes..

Can you send me the GPX file?

This is mine as well. Downloading an entire US state is quick/small.  Even when using the app and having a strong/fast cellular connection, loading the offline maps is much quicker/snappier then Google maps.

Glad you are liking that feature! That particular feature took the most time of any feature in the 2.0 update. :)

  13. Images don't currently download for PQ's. However this will be added in 2.0.1 which we are hoping to submit the Apple this week.

The option will be on by default, but can be turned off in Settings for those users that do not have much space.

We are also adding two new Offline List options to delete cache images from a list, and to re-download images for a list.
