Update date of log when changing Will Attend/Write Note to Attended

Martin

Question

I noticed that when you update the "Will Attend" log of an Event to "Attended", in Cachly it's possible to choose any date which will also be represented on the geocaching.com homepage.
When you use the geocaching.com -> "Edit Log" page, the date is updated according to the event date.

I don't know if this is something that needs to be considered in Cachly or if this is something that Groundspeak needs to update in the API or their backend.

No (but this would also be a good idea, if isn't currently that way).

What I mean that it is possible to a few days before an event you can log a "Will Attend" and later on it is possible to edit your "Will Attend", change the log type to "Attended" but still keep the date when you logged the "Will Attend".

No it is not the normal process, but we have heard that there are Cachers out there, that will log the Will Attend, do not show up and after some weeks edit the WA to an Attended, as that does not generate any kind of notification.

This week we had a CITO where we tested that and during testing we found that it is possible and use any date.

Basically the better solution would be to remove the possibility to change any log (Will Attend, Write Note, Need Reviewer Attention) to Attended, but as Groundspeak itself gives the possibility, I'm not sure if you want to overrule it in Cachly.
