The Dartmoor Pixies 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2021 Hello, me moved from L4C recently. So far we feel very comfortable using cachly and got used to it quick. One of the things we can’t figure out , is to use a map and a larger compass at the same time. Thanks for any help. Caroline
Nic Hubbard 650 Report post Posted April 5, 2021 Hi Caroline, Cachly does not have a large compass overlaid on the map like L4C does. Can you explain what you liked about having the compass and the map shown at the same time? Was it just personal preference or being used to it? Or did it provide extra insight into finding the cache to have it that way? Thanks!
The Dartmoor Pixies 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2021 Hi Nic, wow speedy reply... Well, I guess it was just personal preference . Liked it the most while riding a bike, able to see the route and the actual direction at the same time. Now, at least I know I’m not missing anything in the settings. Nic Hubbard 650 Report post Posted April 5, 2021 In Cachly, you can tap the current location button on the bottom right a few times to change it into "heading follow mode". This will rotate the map while you move, and show the small compass. Hopefully this will be of help.
The Dartmoor Pixies 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2021 We have found that, we like a large compass better. No worries, we are doing fine but still learning.
PlasmaWave 7 Report post Posted April 8, 2021 I too am just switching from L4C to Cachly ... the semi-transparent overlaid compass is one of the L4C features I miss most - it can be large or small by tapping. It also displays the distance from gz. Being able to watch the map but see direction and distance from gz all at same time is really useful. The tiny compass that Nic mentioned only shows when the map is in direction of travel and is too small to see from arms length. Also doesn’t show distance from gz. Nic Hubbard 650 Report post Posted April 8, 2021 Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! Cachly does show distance to the target in both map and compass view just for reference.
