Can you confirm that Cachly 3.0.3 is the latest version that will run on an iPhone 4S? And how frequently are the old maps updated? Thanks!

Cachly requires iOS 10, and the iPhone 4s does not allow iOS 10 to be installed, so sadly you are stuck on 3.0.3 unless you have a newer phone.

Old Standard maps are updated about every quarter.

I'm using an iPhone 4S with what appears to be the latest version of Cachly that will run on it  [ 3.0.3 (14) ] and just downloaded the latest BC (Canada) offline map for it - it appears much older than 2 weeks (not sure how to display the generation date as described above in this version of Cachly). Is there a solution to this?

This was in reference to our Premium Offline Maps in our 5.0 version. The maps in very old versions (3.0.3 is over a year old) of Cachly are not updated with the same frequency.

It would be nice if, instead of just saying “filtering on”, you could show a short description of the active filter.

This wouldn't be easy since there could be any number of filters selected and working together.

Alternatively, in the filter options popup, you could clearly highlight anything that’s not set to the default.  Several times now, I have missed nearby caches because there was a restrictive filter turned on (like favorite points >= some value) and I didn’t notice.

Agree this would be a great addition!

So the only way how to simulate "move" action is to "copy" to another list and then "delete" from the first one? Hmm, from an user perspective, that is "unexpected". Are you planning to add this "feature"?

No, not planning to add this feature currently. Add to list copies, it doesn't mean move to list. Possibly in the future.

Got it. Thanks. Btw, another "unexpected" behavior from a user perspective.

List view and map view have different contexts. When in list view, the ... button options do not apply, just as when in list view the sort button does not apply to the map.

This will copy the cache only. How to move it?

You cannot. If it exists in another list you cannot move it, it will always be in both lists.

I see no such a button (I expect it's not the ... button on the bottom panel which navigates to the Cachly's settings):

Make sure you are on the Map View:

    1) It would be great to have an ability to modify map's theme (add custom one, change current one, ..). Please, please, give us the ability.

No, this isn't something that we have planned. The current styles have been carefully designed and thought out.

Can you give me the coordinates of where this trail is?

    1) move/copy a single cache into a different offline list.

You can hard press on the map callout or the cache in list view and it will give you an option to add to another list. Or, if you are viewing the cache details, tap the add to list button on the top right of the screen. It is the second button that has a plus on it:

    2) move/copy filtered caches into a different offline list.

When viewing the filtered list, tap the ... button and choose "Add to List".

    Hope this helps.

  8. We have done many battery improvements and there are still some to come. However, I think you are looking at those battery statistics wrong.

My iPhone X is using around 50% battery after 1 hr 30 mins of Cachly usage. This is also with battery saver mode switched on.

What the stats were meaning was, during the 1 hour and 30 minutes of iPhone usage, Cachly used 50% of the battery used during that time. It does not mean that Cachly drained your battery 50% of a full battery charge. It means if during the 1 hour and 30 minutes you used 10% of your total charge, that Cachly used 50%, or 5% of the total battery usage.

    Does that help?

Happened again Wednesday morning and today, I was in Salmon creek. Some screen captures below. The only filters I had set were to exclude my finds and hides. I did have Google maps setup with a destination if that makes a difference, I knew where I was going more for the distance there and best parking position. I can send today's as well but both had the same starting location. Wednesday I was using mobile data and today I was in my driveway in East Vancouver still connected to my home WiFi.

In the More tab, can you use the "Email Support" option and choose to send Debug Data? This will help me see the network request that is being made. Thanks.

My only issue is you cannot see what map version you currently have as there are always ticks beside the maps you have downloaded, whether they are the most up-to-date ones or not. Any chance this could be addressed?

When you view the offline map in the downloads area each one has a date of when the map was last generated. If the date is less than about a month old then it is new.

I recently found out that you are able so zoom in/out using one hand/thumb in Apple Maps. To do this you double tap somewhere on the map and then move your thumb up and down. This feature would be awesome in Cachly.

Even though this works in the stand alone Apple Maps app, iOS does not provide a way to do this when those maps are included in apps like Cachly.

However, our Premium Offline Maps and Google Maps do offer this way of zooming in.

Hopefully iOS will change this in the future.

  12. This depends on which maps you are inquiring about. We have two map servers running:

    Every 2 weeks:

    • USA
    • Canada
    • UK
    • Australia
    • Germany
    • South Africa

Longer update cycle, about 2.5 months to complete

    • The rest of the world

Notifications are not provided, but you can check the dates that we list for the last refresh when viewing the Premium Offline maps.
