  1. My approach... I use Cachly and PGC, and even sometimes GSAK though I leverage PGC much more now.I update the corrected coordinate on the Geocaching.com site when I solve a mystery and Cachly and the Geocaching site/app will honor the geocaching corrected coordinate. I also provide them in the personal cache note so PGC is aware. This will display in Cachly with a red triangle over the icon if there are corrected coordinates associated with the cache.

  2. You are correct it's a GC API driven behavior with cache data being returned based on original coords vs corrected coords. The corrected coordinate processing is handled by Cachly after the data is returned from GC, at least in Live view. With this info being the case, you might want to expand the caches retrieved in live view to cover what might be a cache just outside the current loaded set in case it has a corrected coord that moves it back into the target area. This of course adds more caches against your daily limit, though for me that's normally never a factor.

I suspect the behavior is the same on the official app but since that constantly loads new data as you move, it might not be as noticeable. That's even if the official app uses their own API.  Also the official app doesn't count against your daily limits like the partner apps.

  3. Not sure this one would go over well or if you enabled it (on a list by list basis), when does it update? You have a cachly list of 5,000 caches and you walk into your house and you want to use 5,000 cache updates from your daily limit and update all the caches? After the update, when does it update again after you leave the house and come back - 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week?

  4. Not sure I understand this. A bookmark list is a container on geocaching.com that contains a list of caches. An offline list in cachly is a list of caches. You can use a geocaching.com bookmark list to create or add caches to a cachly offline list, but they are not one and the same so I don't know if an automatic sync makes sense.

Maybe there's a feature to add a cache or caches from a cachly offline list to a geocaching.com bookmark to send caches from one type of list to another.

I don't know if it makes sense to remove caches from an offline list because a cache in that list isnt in a bookmark as I often add caches to an offline list that might have inititally been added from a bookmark.  Nor would I want a cache removed from a geocaching bookmark list because it was removed from a cachly offline list.

Can you clarify this for me Nic. Are you saying that it has the potential to return up to 20 groups of 50 caches per 60 seconds? I am not getting this. If I have 10,000 caches, how long "should" this take?

Yes - 20 requests in 60 seconds with each request covering 50 caches. That means 1000 caches per minute and then it needs to pause 1 minute before it can start the next batch. So with 10,000 caches it would be:
    Min 1 - 1000
    Min 2 - Pause
    Min 3 - 2000
    Min 4 - Pause
    Min 5 - 3000
    Min 6 - Pause
    ...
    Min 17 - 9000
    Min 18 - Pause
    Min 19 - 10000
    Min 20 - Pause
    Min 21 - 11000

    Assuming everything goes as planned.

  6. What you see is likely a result of a previously logged cache that wasn't cleaned out in an earlier upload. The new version that you just downloaded surfaced some of these pending logs. If you validated it was logged correctly on geocaching.com , swipe it on your screen and delete it.

  7. I just logged a series of trackables via the app and the 2 fields that are always required are at the bottom of the Log Trackables screen - Log Type and Message. For me, it requires scrolling to select those fields. Please consider moving those fields up on the log trackables screen similar to the order of fields in the Log Cache screen - Date, Log Type, Message, followed by the rest of the fields.

  8. I use Cache Notes extensively as info before I hunt for a cache and if it's meaningful I update the Cage Note with a reminder to myself on the cache that was found should someone else ask me about it.  Project-GC displays an indicator for a cache that has a Cache Note associated to it.

A GPX export of a cache with a Cache Note from the geocaching.com cache page doesn't include the Cache Note which seems an oversight (aka bug) to me.

I do wish GC would allow image upload(s) to be associated with a cache note and not a log, but that's a different desire I don't see GC getting worked on any time soon.

Those headers appear to show that Cachly uses GPX v1.0 and GC.com v1.0

The headers are different and Cachly shows 1.0 while GC shows 1.0.1 . I updated the Cachly reference to match GC's reference and GSAK imported without the alert dialog.

In the generated GPX files the differences I outlined above are (which would be obvious if the forum didn't auto hyperlink):

    http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0 vs http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1

    and

    http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/cache.xsd vs http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1/cache.xsd"

both have Cachly outputting /1/0 while GC.com outputs /1/0/1

  10. Nic: If the file is indeed in the correct format, consider the following difference between a GC GPX file and a Cachly GPX file that causes the GSAK alert:

    Cachly:

    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0 http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/cache.xsd"

    GC:

    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1 http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1/cache.xsd"

In a quick test, modifying a Cachly GPX export to match what GC outputs for the 2nd line in the GPX eliminates the alert on GSAK import.

  11. Not sure what you mean by Field Note. Cachly syncs Cache Note with Geocaching.com so an update anywhere will be displayed or you could sync offline. If you mean a Pending draft log sent to Geocaching.com, after it is accepted on being uploaded, it's no longer a pending draft stored within Cachly.

I use cache notes all the time as a reminder of the cache in case some one asks me.

  12. The behavior you experience is what happens if you explicitly close the application or the application is closed on your behalf by the operating system such as Apple needs to swap out an app for another where it needs the memory, etc. When that occurs, Cachly is starting from scratch just as if you newly launched it.  There's a future enhancement for the application to save/restore it's state when that happens but no release date yet.

  13. Might you have a filter set? Launch Cachly and on the first screen you see, click the icon that looks like a gear on the right of where it says "Location, GC codes, coordinates". This will bring up the filter options. You can either click Reset in the top left or scroll down to where you can limit by location and see if US State shows "Washington" and click that, select the blank option at the top of the state list and click done.

  14. The logic behind the current solution is that full data is needed to display log info while lite data is used for the live map. I recall earlier discussions that it might be a nice enhancement to consider showing that info if available such as offline caches with log data downloaded.

  15. It could be that the 4s doesn't have enough memory to keep Cachly active in the background when you are swapping apps. If you haven't, close all apps you don't need by double clicking the home button and swiping up (closing) apps you don't need. There is a future request for Cachly to re-launch in the same state as it was last running.

I turned off Cachly from doing an initial search when it is launched which might save a little time for you if the app needs to reload and you had that option (More at the bottom of the main screen / Settings / Automatic Search on Start) enabled and showing green. Turn that option off show it doesn't show green.

  16. What are the specific steps you are taking?

I can have Cachly and the camera app both launched on my iPhone and switch back and forth by double clicking the home button on the front of my iPhone and selecting the other app. Cachly remains on the screen it was when I go back to it.
