Mobile Network Signal Multi's

Today I tried to correct the coordinates of a number of multi cache's but found that the coordinates wouldn't update as I had no network coverage.

The majority of the cache's that I enjoy finding are in rural locations that often doesn't have any network coverage and I wondered if I was doing something wrong? although it works fine when a network coverage is available.

You can save Waypoints (and corrected coordinate waypoints) when you are offline and they will be uploaded later for you. These get uploaded when you return to Cachly and have a network connection.

What did you mean that they wouldn't update?

The corrected coordinates wouldn't save and displayed "network timed out" or something like that, I will take some screen shots if it happens again.

I think the problem is that your phone still thinks it has a data connection, possibly? If Cachly doesn't detect a connection at all, such as in Airplane mode it will save the Waypoints offline. If it does detect a data connection it will try to upload them.

I've had this a lot too ususally happens when phone is in anything less than a 3G area. I'd suggest that if the user is in the offline map or using offline map and not on wifi then it defaults to saving offline. Typically if a user knows they are in a poor signal area they will switch to offline maps and/or offline tab. Cachly could take that as a cue to use offline mode for saving waypoints (and cache notes).

I usually operate with offline OSM maps regardless of signal. I might temp switch to Google satellite view but then back to offline. I can have full 4G LTE and in usually use offline maps. Not sure the above approach would work for me or what the downside is as I normally Send Now while caching and might not launch Cachly after I'm home and back on wifi.

I do the same usually always work in Offline Maps. Perhaps a tweak to override if you have a 4G signal? Not sure if that's checkable in the iOS API though. There's options in the private APIs but that's not a great idea.

Note however I wasn't talking about the send now for logs. I was talking about the intermediate options where intuitively you don't need a data link. ie: adding an additional waypoint - typically during a multi and adding a cache note. Both of these are done frequently in the field and I'd suggest shouldn't normally be trying to update the website.

I can see a strong argument that there is no practical benefit to updating the website with waypoints and cache notes (notes NOT logs) whilst out in the field. Perhaps streamlining the process and saying waypoints and cache notes update when on wifi?
