Ahhh! In that case, the German translation for this search field is misleading. It says "Geocache-Name".
Thanks for pointing me to the other filter field. I did not notice this one.

Attila_G got a reaction from Sami in New feature: display favorite points in percent %
    Hi Nic
Here a little input for a super improvement: Would it be possible to display the favorite points in percent? Especially if you are travelling in a unfamiliar area and don't want to miss the best caches, this would be a very useful function! Of course you should also be able to filter or sort by percentage.
If the % display is output via the API, I guess it would be relatively easy to implement such a function.
    Thanks!

YES! I had turned these layers off because the map displaying was slow earlier. I also didn't know that parking lots are considered as "points of interest".  The icons are very small but better than nothing.
    Thank you!

    Hello.
I've purchased premium maps with hopes that hiking and cycle trails are included in the maps' data, but I was wrong.
    1) It would be great to have an ability to modify map's theme (add custom one, change current one, ..). Please, please, give us the ability.
    2) Would it be possible to add extra data into the map / or if the data are already there to modify theme to show the extra data?
This is how it should look like (trails enabled - pink one is a bike trail; blue and green ones are hiking trails) (source with coordinates):

And this is how it looks like in cachly:

Very good source for all the hiking and bike trails here in Czechia is mapy.cz.

    Thank you.

We went out caching today, mostly a power trail, and some other caches.  We wanted to hit a hundred, but because some of the caches on the power trail were archived.  I thrill it would be nice to be able to see how many caches I’ve found today.  Seems like it would be easy though.

    Hi,
any news to the feature discussed here. Recently I had a talk with a fellow Cacher. I had a question about a waypoint and a minute later he sent me a photo of what I was looking for. This was so fast, I was amazed and asked him if his Geocaching app was able to store photos related to the caches. He answered: No, unfortunately not. For some time he maintained a Evernote cache database, but finally he abondoned because the extra work of managing cache fotos in another app was too cumbersome and time consuming.
This would be a great feature ...
for those who like to document their caching for those who want to remember nice caches with photos they cannot store in the found log for stages of multis (always helpful to be able to look up again whether one has noted down the last coordinates correctly) Sure, you'd have to think it through. First step would be to store personal photos with the cache locally on the device with the possibility of a structured export (e.g. one dir with GC code and cache name per cache). This would ensure that nothing is lost and can be transferred to a personal photo starage location later.
iCloud sync could be a secont step/improvement.
    Best,
    David

Here is the answer from the HQ:
I hope they will implement this "request to follow" option soon. Interestingly, the opposite option "Do not allow Authorized Developer applications to access my public profile information" already exists in the profile. So it's a bit confusingly solved, but at least there's hope that the friends list will come back sometime.
Nic, I'm sorry about the initial accusition against Cachly.

I used the hybrid Google Maps the most outside of offline maps. You could zoom in closer with those than Apples hybrid. I’ll live but I’m glad they’ll be back in v5.
Can the ability to hide maps I’ll never use be added like Ordinance Survey and Thunderforest?
It would be nice to get a better terrain map in there too.

I do love the Cachly app but one thing I think it needs (and is available on other third party apps) is LIVE updating maps, I want to be able to get in my car at the start of my journey and as I pass caches on my route they update and appear live onto my map without me pressing or doing anything. There is a LIVE button on the maps in Looking For Cache app which is the exact feature, it loads as I move- this would be a killer feature and bean I can delete L4C. If this feature is available, I can't find it :-)

Attila_G got a reaction from barefootguru in Offline vs Online Map (speed comparison)
    Hello Nic
I am always disappointed with the speed of loading the offline maps. That's why I made two comparison videos:
Video 1 shows the offline map of Switzerland
Video 2 shows the same online OSM map
As you can see, loading the offline map takes much longer than loading the same online OSM map!
    My setup:
    - iPhone 6 / 64GB, iOS 11.2.5 connected to WLAN
    - Cachly 4.0.1 / Location/Maps: Switzerland
Why is the offline map so slow? When you're out in the field, it feels like forever... The main reason for me to use the offline map is that small ways are better visible.

Recanting my comment. I really would appreciate having my log on a cache kept in the local DB. I realize it is not on the server but having it there is invaluable when you get a Phone A Friend plea for help. The log can trigger key memories. I would only put detailed info about the hide and container into a cache note lest I create a spoiler log. I only do that for some noteworthy ones though. That's when the log is handy.

It would be different in many ways. Now Cachly loads the logs via API. The simple list can be created without API access (offline). In the list you already have the cache name as it comes from the listing. The list is much more compact. What you can't see on my screenshot is a little search/filter function that let's you find fieldnotes quickly. The grouping by date and the little statistic is a nice but useful feature. When caching with friends, I used this list often to make a screenshot of the caches and then to compare them with my colleagues (sometimes me or someone else forgot to log a cache...).
Above all, I personally just do not see any benefit in reading my own logs. If I need to read one of my logs, then it's a specific one to remind me of the cache again. On your Log-tab I will never ever find a specific log again. I tried to find the log of a cache that I logged only one month ago. It took more than a minute and I could only find it because I still knew the approximate date. No chance to find a log that is six or more months old.
Just to let you know: I do not want to criticize Cachly and your work. It should be a positive input to make the great app even better.

Ok, let me be more precise. Here is what Geosphere shows:

It's a list of the fieldnotes that I have sent to gc.com via Geosphere. The list shows the 'logged' caches in chronological order separated by date and it shows how many caches I have found or not on that date. When tapping on the text it shows the fieldnote or when tapping on the arrow it shows the cache information.
I don't expect that Cachly does the same. But what would be great is if Cachly would save a similar overview. Jumping to the log or listing would be nice too. No API access is needed for this feature. It's 'only' a database with the sent logs.
Hope this makes it more clearer now.

I wonder who is using the "Logs" feature to read the own logs? Sorry, but I find this function somehow useless... No cache name, no find function. Why should I read my own logs at all? That's the reason why I ask this question. Who is using this feature and why?
Instead of my own logs, I would rather like to see a chronological list of all my logged caches (only cache name & GC code instead of the log text) with a daily summary (count of finds, DNF). Something similar to what Geosphere offers. I would often like to see which caches I logged on a given date. For me this feature would be much more useful.

I see this was sort of, or accidentally, requested by someone in another thread here, but since it looks like it's not what the original poster asked for in his thread, I'll go ahead and post here.

I'd love to see cachly make a count of my total number of finds in the current day easy to display, perhaps along with a list of all caches logged or with logs pending in the current day.

On this topic, one feature I find handy in Geosphere (but havent really looked at in cachly) is the ability to easily view previous field notes. Often, when someone calls for assistance in finding a cache I have previously found, I will go back into Geosphere offline list, find the cache, and review my field notes on the hide.

In the "Navigate to Cache" mode, the distance is displayed at the top of the map. When I cache offline, I use this mode while driving the car with the phone sitting in a dashboard cradle. I like to view the distance but the font is too small to read while driving.
Is it possible to increase the font size?
Also, is it possible to automatically adjust the map scale as one gets closer to the cache, showing both your location and GZ?

Attila_G reacted to Michael in Waypoint details visible in 'Navigate to Cache' mode
    Hi Nic
I would be great if the waypoint details (description) would be visible in the 'Navigate to Cache' mode.
This cache for example has the following waypoints with a task you have to solve at each waypoint (counting things in this case):

But in the 'Navigate to Cache' mode I can't see what I have to do at a certain waypoint, e.g. 'Stage 1':

So I have to switch back to the cache detail page and lookup the task of the waypoint.
Seeing the waypoint description directly in the 'Navigate to Cache' mode would be much easier
And the killer feature would be that I could see the waypoints not only in the 'Navigate to Cache' mode, but already in the normal map view of an offline list (switchable on/off).
With this feature I could see on the map if I walk past a waypoint of a multi cache where I have to do something, while going to get a traditional cache
Or even planning the optimal route to solve several multis at the same time
Thanks for your great work and best regards
    Michael
